The Consortium for the Protection of Grana Padano is constituted by 130 manufacturers, 153 seasoners, 132 plants allowed to pre-package Grana Padano cheese in portions and 31 plants allowed to pre-package grated Grana Padano.
In general, the Grana Padano’s supply chain involves more than 4,000 livestock farms, which give the milk exclusively for the production of Grana Padano.
In 2015 2,583,185.024 tons of milk were processed as Grana Padano cheese, a figure that represents approximately 23% of the national quota.
The wholesale value of production amounted to 425,074,880 €, the retail value has reached 708.458.000 €.
60% of the production comes from cooperatives, while the rest of the market is occupied by industrial companies.
It is estimated that the entire supply chain of Grana Padano employs more than 40,000 workers.
Grana Padano in Mantua
Mantua, with 28 dairies and 553 stables, in 2015 produced the 29,51% of the total annual production of Grana Padano, amounting to 1,416,916 forms.

About 40 percent of Mantua’s Grana Padano production has been exported, for a wholesale value of 170,029,952 € and a retail value of 370,000,000 €.
Grana Padano is therefore worth the 4,89% of exports of the province of Mantua, corrisponding in 2015 to 5.8 billion €, according to the Consorzio Mantova Export calculations.
